Copper on the Fly
Nestled on a ridge overlooking the spectacular views at the mouth of the Copper River as it flows into Alaska’s largest Lake, Iliamna, sits Copper on the Fly. Copper on the Fly is a small, intimate fishing lodge hosting up to 6 guests at a time from June through September. The Copper River is a fly fishing river only with world class rainbow trout throughout the season and fresh sockeye salmon in the month of July.
The location of Copper on the Fly is the best in the area providing gorgeous views of the Alaskan wilderness and wildlife, spectacular sunsets and phenomenal fishing just a short boat ride up the Copper River.
Copper on the Fly was established in 2001 by long time friends and fishing buddies, Steve Munroe and Sean Bradley. Along with a lot of help from family and many friends, Steve and Sean have spent the last 14 years building the lodge. Now that both are retired from their day jobs, the avid fishermen are living the dream!
Together with their team, they guide and take great care of lodge guests to ensure they make great memories and enjoy their Alaska fishing adventure!
Co-owner and Guide Steve Munroe came to Alaska with Dena in 1982. A great friend introduced Steve to fishing in Alaska almost immediately after and he has loved it ever since. Like the rest of the team he is guide, builder, bottle washer and loves to help people fish. Together with Sean they created the vision and layout of the lodge. Retiring in 2014, the hope is to continue to build a fun and hospitable lodge.
Co-owner and Guide Sean Bradley is a lifelong Alaskan and avid outdoorsman. Sean grew up fishing with his Granddad, Leo Bradley, on his homestead in Hope on the Six Mile River. Retiring from a 30+ year Television Broadcasting career in 2011, he was ready to spend more time in that spectacular fishing place!
Guide Sean II has followed in the footsteps of his Dad and Steve and become a terrific fishing guide spending his summers guiding at the lodge. He begins his third year at the University of Alaska Anchorage where he is pursuing a degree in Aviation.
Cook. Guide. Friend. Long time Alaskan who has honed his skill of cooking amazing meals. He says one of his favorite places to be is on the Copper, second only to a sport fishing boat off the coast of Baja Mexico.
Guide and friend. Jack Galloway has been an integral part of the establishment of Copper on the Fly almost since its beginning. Clients love his personality and willingness to share his expertise. It will be wonderful to have Jack continue to guide as his time allows.
